Mkoani Tree Planting 2010
On the 18th of May Community Forests Pemba came to Uweleni Secondary School to help plant 50 trees in order to help prevent further erosion around the school. Uweleni Students who participate in the Global Schools Link planted mtondoo seedlings (a hardwood native to Pemba), lychee seedlings, and cinnamon seedlings. The students of Uweleni then traveled down to Ng'ombeni Primary School to help plant 50 more trees around their school campus.
Montague Plants 7000 Tress
Montague Public School Community planted 1000 trees and the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority planted 7000 trees.
Pemba Students Planting Mangroves
Students in Wesha, Pemba planting mangroves to restore a local ecosystem damaged by an oil spill. Mangroves help stabilize the fragile coastline and provide habitat for numerous species of fish, crustations, birds and insects.
