Global Climate Change Explained

Global Climate Change

What is Climate Change?

Global Climate Change refers to the pattern of long term changes in the climate of our planet. Over the history of the earth there have been many different periods of climate change. Sometimes the world has gotten very cold, for example during the ice ages. Other times the world has gotten hotter. There are many different reasons for climate changes to happen, some of them are natural and some of them are not.

Recently scientists have noticed some big changes in our global climate, right now the world is getting hotter. This time the climate is changing much faster than normal and scientists believe that it is mostly because of human action. This rise in global temperature means that our seasons and weather patterns will change, effecting the people, animals and plants that live around the world.

Every living thing on the earth depends on the ecosystem around them to supply the food, water and shelter they need to survive. All ecosystems rely on a certain type of climate to function normally. Changes in climate affect ecosystems and this can affect the availability of the food and water, as well as the conditions that people, plants and animals need to live there.
